The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, its Center for Rural Health & Social Service Development, and the Farm Family Resource Initiative have a series of virtual sessions on farm succession to help farmers and farm families planning for the future and weighing retirement options.
It is estimated more than 70 percent of the farmland in America will be transferred in the next 15 to 20 years. Planning for that succession is important to you, your family and your farm’s future. Join online discussions designed to assist farmers and farm families with developing a succession plan for their future generations.
- March 7 at 1:30 pm or 6:30 pm — The Process of Farm Succession Planning: Basic steps for creating a plan and what to consider along the way.
- March 13 at 6:30 pm — The Farm Meetings: Types, purpose, and who is involved and navigating differences.
- March 19 at 6:30 pm — Who is Driving the Tractor? Gaining experience to mentoring future generations.
Programs are free. To register contact 618-701-1251 or email lynn.weis@siu.edu. Visit siumed.org/farm to learn more about this event and the Farm Family Resource Initiative.
