In view of the recent surge in the number COVID-19 cases due to the omicron variant, AISWCD has fielded a number of questions inquiring about the continued ability to host public meetings remotely. The answer is yes – SWCDs can still meet remotely at this time, but must meet a few requirements in doing so. For a brief refresher, Public Act 101-640 which was signed into law during June 2020, allows public bodies the flexibility to meet remotely by suspending certain segments of the Open Meetings Act when there is a gubernatorial disaster declaration in place. For your use we have developed a fact sheet for reference of these requirements – click HERE to view it.
